The newsletter is out, and hopefully you’ve had some time to read it. There are a lot of gems in that thing, and we are all really excited to get more of those out to you. Also, we are going to be working on our September newsletters soon, so if you want to send in craft pictures, events, or stories now is the time to submit those to us. We would love to start implementing the voices of our community to make each letter more and more unique.
But there is a weekend to get to, and that’s what’s important here. So, let’s get to it.
Friday: The Clovis Farmer’s market is taking place. We mention this event every week because we love it so much, and it is such a great opportunity for you to get out and gather yourselves some excellent, local produce.
Saturday: Brings the Ice Cream Zoofari taking place at 894 W. Belmont Ave. Fresno, CA 93728. This sounds exciting and is sure to be a great time. Want to know more about it? Check out this little info blurb:
Producers Dairy Ice Cream Zoofari, a summertime tradition for over twenty years, will take place at Fresno Chaffee Zoo on Saturday, August 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. Beat the heat in this all-you-can-eat ice cream FUNdraiser. Enjoy unlimited ice cream, sherbets, frozen yogurt, sundaes and smoothies with zoo-centric names such as Rocky Toad, Mint Monkeys ‘n Cream, and Cockatoo Cookie Dough. Guests will satisfy their sweet cravings while strolling through the Zoo and getting the latest scoop on their favorite animals. Kid-friendly entertainment will include live music and their favorite local mascots! Ice Cream Zoofari tickets will be available for purchase online, at the Zoo and by phone at 559-498-5921 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9th. This event does sell out, so we recommend calling as early as possible. Phone sales will stop at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9th and any remaining tickets will be available at the door.

Sunday: For those of the more outdoorsy persuasion, Sunday brings the SAR Wild Run Half Marathon to the area. Even if you aren’t inclined to spend your day running a 5-10k, there are still fun hiking events that are taking place. There is something here for everyone.
Experience the beautiful Sierra scenery of Shaver Lake! Run the NEW! SAR Wild Run Half Marathon, 10K or 5K or for those who just want to take it easy, we have a 2 mile Family Hike. Join us for this Fresno County Search & Rescue FUNdraiser! All participants will receive great goodies, a tech-shirt and unique medallions. All finishers receive a BBQ prepared by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team and finishing adults get a free beer in the beer garden! Event is chip timed and winners will receive unique awards! Water stops and lots of encouragement along all routes. What better way to escape the scorching Valley heat in August than to enjoy the coolness of the mountains at 5,400 feet elevation.
