First October Weekend

For most people October means one thing and one thing only: Halloween. No matter how old you are, the festivities are all around. For example, who doesn’t like to sit around all month watching the scariest movies they can find, or sitting back and letting the fall sensations permeate their mood. But what are some of the fun fall activities taking place this weekend? We are going to highlight some of our favorites for the weekend.

First October Weekend:

The Big Fresno Fair: An annual event that only takes place in October, the Big Fresno Fair is here and offers fun for the whole family. The event promptly starts at 11am and goes all the way until midnight. This event lasts from October 1-13, so there will be plenty of opportunities to check it out.

Fall Twilight Tour: This is an event that take place only twice a year, and requires participants to be at least 16 years or older. The event is held on October 4th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Project Survival’s Cat Haven 38257 E. Kings Canyon Rd in Dunlap, CA. Cost is $35 for members and $75 for non-members. Take a look at this write up to get a better feel for the event:

Twilight Tours are an adults-only event (16 years and older) held just two evenings per year. You are treated to a fantastic dinner and dessert. Everyone has the opportunity to free-walk the trail at your leisure as there is a docent at every enclosure to answer any questions. The silent auction always has lots of one-of-a-kind, not-to-be-missed items and everyone is invited to join the guided tour. During our special guided tour, you can see the cats interact with their favorite keepers and watch the cats receiving new toys and treats. See the cats jumping, rolling and playing with their new toys. A memorable evening surrounded by the beautiful manzanita, oaks and spring wild flowers-and amazing cats.

Central Valley Craft Brewers Oktoberfest: The perfect event for October. This event takes place on Sunday October 5th and is going to be a great time. Check out this write up for even more details:

By now you have had a chance to look over the October newsletters and hopefully thought about doing the craft for this month. We thought it would be fun to do something Halloween related, and so you have the glass jack o’ lantern. We are hoping that some of you will do this craft and take pictures of it. We would like to include those pictures in our November newsletter, so we encourage all the members of our community to get crafting.
