Now that the holidays are upon us, we thought we would give a few craft ideas to keep the season moving forward. We know we put some in the newsletter, but there is nothing that says holiday spirit like lots of crafts. Here’s what we got.
Making Your Own Mayflower:
This craft is simple to make, and it can add a little festive flair to your Thanksgiving Day set-up. The best part, it uses stuff you can find at a coffee shop. Here are the instructions:
Materials:
- Paper coffee cup
- Coffee Cup Sleeve
- Construction paper
- Coffee Stirrer
- First you need to cut off the bottom of a paper coffee cup. After you do that, cut two slits with the tip of your scissors at the center edge of the cup. Place the cup, bottom side up, into the center of a cup holder (you know, the brown sleeve they give you so that you don’t burn your hand when the coffee is hot).
- This next step is when the construction paper comes in. Cut two rectangles per boat to make sails. Then you need to cut two slits, the smaller the better, at the center of each sail at the top and bottom. Push your stirrers through the slits you’ve made.
- Add a paper flag (optional) to the top of each mast and push the sticks into the slits you have made in the cup (step 1).
- You’re Done.
This craft is pretty simple, but it will be a nice, cute decoration to have as a placeholder if you are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner. Remember, we are always looking for craft pictures for our newsletter, so send your finished craft pictures to tech@getacoolbox.com. Have a good weekend everybody.
